Sydney Harbour Bridge & Google

Today Google decorated its Australian homepage with this commemorative doodle of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in celebration of the icon’s 80th anniversary.

Intel Ultrabook Temptations
The Determined Temptation
Another great example from Intel in their experimental marketing campaign this year for the Ultrabook. Here on Bondi Beach, Sydney …10 Ultrabooks are buried amongst other household items. Watch people metal detect, dig, shovel on their hands and knees for their chance to get ahold of one of these bad boys.

Intel Ultrabook Temptations
The Daring Temptation
The Temptations are a series of social experiments that explore just what people are prepared to do to get their hands on an Ultrabook. Will someone go crazy with excitement in an upmarket mall in Jakarta? Will several strangers band together to help one person in Melbourne’s Federation Square? Will someone unleash raw power at Bangkok’s Thai Boxing Stadium? You’ll have to watch to find out.

A little bit done but still quite fun.

What some attention? Hold a creative director (well, at least their domain) hostage.

Looking at other examples of outdoor media, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) with That’s your Beeflex features a giant steak sizzling on the barbie. The billboard emitts plumes of smoke to get meat-lovers in the mood with summer on the way. Billboards were placed in 16 prime capital city locations including the M4 motorway and Pacific Highway (Sydney), Nepean Highway and Western Ring Road (Melbourne), Story Bridge and Gold Coast Highway (Brisbane), West Terrace (Adelaide) and the Stirling Highway (Perth). Along with billboards, bus shelters gave off the smell of cooking meat to further stimulate the “Beeflex” by passers-by.

Too tasty to fit in your rolodex!

Came across these interesting business cards made from 100% beef jerky, carrying contact info and other messages that have been seared in with a 150 Watt CO2 laser.

I knew the Argentinians love their beef and lots of it…. but this is taking it to new ‘heights’ - Danish retail advertisement for Argentinian Beef.

Scent Marketing: Smelling a Steak Billboard

This billboard in North Carolina wafts the smell of cooking steak to motorists passing by. The Bloom grocery chain, part of Food Lion, erected the giant sign between a Shell gas station and a storage facility, to promote its new brand of beef. It disperesed the scent during rush hour, from 7-10am and from 4-7pm, everyday. A high-powered fan at the bottom spreads the aroma by blowing air over the cartridges loaded with fragrance oil.

Feed the Man Some Meat!

Realising it has been a while inbetween posts, I thought it was a good idea to get back into to with the best and worst examples of red meat marketing campaigns over the upcoming week. Having working on strategising meat campaigns and creative direction for a major retailer, it is a real eye-opener to see some of this creative work that is really sensory. Stay tuned!
